Crochet pattern for an amigurumi styled after Michelle Obama's first White House Portrait.
MATERIALS AND TOOLS NEEDED:
1. DK Weight Yarn – Recommendation: Paintbox Yarns Simply DK (100% acrylic)
a. Base doll: 180 yards Soft Fudge (109
b. Eyes + eyebrows: 1 yard of Pure Black (101), 1 yard of Champagne White (102), 1 yard Coffee Bean (110)
c. Wig: 150 yards Pure Black (101)
d. Dress: 50 yards Pure Black (101)
e. Shoes: 2 yards Pure Black (101)
2. Crochet Hook Size: 2.75mm
3. Yarn needle
4. Wire: for legs, arms, and neck structure 29” total. (16-gauge wire is recommended. You may use pipe cleaners as a substitution to wire)
a. 20” for feet, legs, and “spine”
b. 9” for arms
5. Needle-nose pliers for bending wire
6. Tape Measure or ruler to measure wire
7. Polyester fiber fill (for stuffing)
8. Stuffing tool (long blunt tweezers, or traditional stuffing tool)
9. 6 sewing pins
10. 5 Stitch markers (safety pins or lobster clasp stitch markers will help with marking stitches and positioning pieces for joining.)
11. 16 - 6 mm pearl colored beads (2 for earrings, 14 for necklace)
