Row 8-9: k across.

At this point you should have five distinct sections separated by 4 stitch
markers The first section should have 19 stitches the second third and 4th
section should have 18 stitches and the fifth section should have 19 stitches

Step 2: k1, k2tog, knit to first marker, sm, *[yo, k1] 3 times, k2tog 6 times,
[yo, k1] 3 times, sm, rep from * three times, pm, m1, k1.
Step 3: k across.
Step 4: k1, k2tog, k to last st slipping all markers, m1, k1.
Step 5: p across.
Step 6: k1, *[yo, k1] 3 times, k2tog 6 times, [yo, k1] 3 times, sm, rep from *
three times, sm knit till 1 st rem, m1, k1.
Step 7: k across.
Step 8: k1, k2tog, k to last st slipping all markers, m1, k1.
Step 9: rep steps 5-8 till there are and 19 sts to the left of the last sm,
removing the first marker when it gets in the way.

Repeat Section 5 until you reach your desired shawl length. Sample has 3

Finishing
Bind off purlwise loosely, weave ends, and wet block to open the lace.
